The Phase One covered Twelve (12) Estates in 12 States across the country namely; Katsina, Sokoto, Yobe, Gombe, Ebonyi, Abia, Akwa Ibom, Delta, Osun, Oyo, Benue and Nasarawa States and One City in Kano funded under the N50bn 2023 Supplementary Budget earmarked for Renewed Hope Cities and Estates Program. The 12 estates consist of 250 Units of 1,2, and 3-Bedroom Semi-Detached Bungalows while the City consists of 500 Units of 1,2 and 3-Bedroom Semi-Detached Bungalows. In total, 3,500 Housing Units, funded by the 2023 budget, are under construction in 13 States across the country. In addition to the 3,112 Renewed Hope City in Karsana, Abuja which is being funded under PPP, there are currently 6,612 Housing Units being developed under the Renewed Hope Cities and Estates Program nationwide in just one year. Plans are already ongoing to break ground for the construction of 2,500 Housing Units in Ibeju, Lekki, Lagos which will also be funded under PPP Arrangement.
At an estimated job creation of 25 jobs per housing unit, the ongoing projects under the Renewed Hope Cities and Estates Program will provide jobs for about 165,300 skilled and unskilled Nigerian workers. And at average of N5,000 per day, Nigerians working onsite will earn about N35,000 per week and N140,000 per month throughout the construction phase of the project. This is in addition to the economic activities that will stimulate Nigeria’s economic growth and development.
The ambitious Housing Program is targeted at all the 36 States and FCT. The states covered under the phase one are the states that provided free land for the program, action that helped reduce about 30% of the unit cost for more affordability to Nigerians. The next phase will also capture only states that have provided free and unencumbered land in suitable locations on a first-come-first-served basis.
All the 13 states and FCT have been uploaded on the Renewed Hope Housing Portal, interested Nigerians can visit and indicate interest pending the completion of the projects. Other states too can visit the site and submit their response to enable the Ministry properly plan for the nation’s housing landscape through demand and supply mapping. The estates are expected to be completed in 3 months while the City in 6 months. Some states have already reached roof level in just one month.
